Sonoma County Twilight Omnium!

Coming up this weekend, this is a great test of a well rounded cyclist! 

Here we go.  

The full details for the 1st Sonoma Co. Twilight Omnium.  A combination of Tactical Criterium skill and speed, Off-Road MTB prowess, and the truest measure of your mettle, a (Semi) Eddie Merckx Individual Time Trial.

The Categories!

Simple, A, B, C, and Women and Juniors will be ranked as well as separate groups

Stage 1 - TNT - Race 4/5 = Group C,   Race 3/4 = Group B,   Race 1/2/3 = Group A,   Women, and Juniors 

Stage 2 - Dirt Crit - Same as every Wed. night  Groups ABC, Women, and Juniors

Stage 3 - Bici Sport ITT - Whichever group you are racing/ranked in, your TT finishing place (and points) will place you amongst your competitions' times/ranks, for that group.

Dates are August 19th, 20th, and 21st.

As this is an Omnium, each stage will have a given amount of points for the finishers to gobble up.  After the Final stage on Thursday, the winners of each category A,B, C, Women and Juniors; will be those with the most points over all.

Note: you can race 2 stages or even 1 and still be in the points rankings for the overall.

* YOU DO NOT NEED A USACYCLING LICENSE to race any of these events..come on out!

Registration:  Takes place at each venue as listed below.  To participate in the Omnium you do not need to register elsewhere or pay any additional $.  Although paying the judges might help in your rankings..just sayin.

Note:  Cat 4 and Cat 3 racers often race two groups this night. Feel free to do that and just know your rankings will only pull through to the single group you select for the Wed Dirt crits etc..


Stage two - August 20th Wednesday night Dirt Crits at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa  groups start at 5:15 pm  http://www.bikemonkey.net/events/dirt-crits/  Contact - Chris Wells - sllewc@yahoo.com

This race will be scored based on the individual's Average Lap times which Bike Monkey records.  The rider with the Fastest ave. lap time, in each group, will win the most points in the omnium.

What is Semi-Eddie Merckx?  The only thing(s) you CANNOT use for this ROAD BIKE INDIVIDUAL TT, are as follows:

1 - TT frame or bike

2 - Disc Wheel

3 - Clip-on extensions or clip-on bars of ANY sort

4 - Clenbuterol

Deep section wheels, Skinsuits, Dork lids, and Velotoze are all allowable accessories for speed.

Results and Rankings

 Results for each stage and group will be posted on Bike Monkeys Website Here - bikemonkey.net each night (Prob late at night so give us some time!)  The Over-all Rankings will be posted as well that night.

Points awarded will be as follows:

1st - 30

2nd - 29

3rd - 28

4th - 26

5th - 24

6th - 22

7th - 20

8th - 17

9th - 14

10th - 11

11th and beyond all get 10 points automatically

Roadies - Time to get your fancy carbon bikes and high-gloss shoes dirty

MTB-ers - Time to put on some spandex and finally be cool

TT-ers - See how well you do when the playing field has evened and your zoot TT rig is left all alone at home while you flail your road bike against the clock
