Mariposa Challenge FAQs
Q. Does it cost anything to enter the Mariposa Challenge?
Q. Is it open to anyone?
A. It is open to all women in the United States.
Q. Is there an age limit?
Q. Do I need to use a smart phone or Garmin to participate in the Challenge?
Q. Do I have to use MapMyRide to participate in the Challenge?
Q. Will I only be scored on the routes that are suggested by Mariposa Challenge retailers?
A. No. Suggested routes are exactly that — suggested routes. In a perfect scenario, these suggested routes are a means of bringing participants together, or perhaps to introduce you to some new trails, but riding these suggested routes is not a requirement to participate in the Challenge.
Q. Can I log more than one ride per day?
A. No. Only one ride per day will count for score. If a participant rides more than once per day, MapMyRide will log the day’s longest ride to the Challenge.
Q. Do I have to ride mountain bikes?
A. If possible, the Mariposa Challenge should be completed with mountain bikes on legal trails. But the overall goal of the Challenge is to get more women on bikes, so participants may ride other types of bikes if they do not own or have access to a mountain bike.
Q. Do I have to ride off-road only?
A. If possible, the Mariposa Challenge should be completed with mountain bikes on legal trails. Of course, not everyone has access to singletrack right outside her back door. We hope that each participant will use this Challenge as an excuse to enjoy more riding on dirt this August, but we can’t further penalize someone for living in an area without easy access to amazing trails.
Q. What if I travel outside of the United States? Do rides outside of the U.S. count for score?
A. No. We do, however, hope you enjoy your vacation — or applaud you for bringing your bike on a work trip.
Q. When do the first 50 participants in each area receive their gift bags?
A. Echelon Cycle & Multisport is hosting a Mariposa Challenge kick-off party August 7th at 6:15PM. After you register for the challenge please RSVP for the launch party on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/608613849280570/
Q. What about the closing party and the raffle?
A. Echelon Cycle & Multisport will be hosting a closing party one week after the challenge closes where we announce the winners of the challenge as well as raffle off various swag items for prizes – socks, hats, water bottles, etc.
